Maidenhead is undergoing its Renaissance.

You can be a part of it.

“Maidenhead is ideally positioned in the midst of Thames Valley. We have close links to Reading, Oxford, London, and the Heathrow airport,” said Dr Alex Artyomenko, MD, one of the MTVA4Life founders in a recent press-release.

Numerous life science companies are based in and around the town, and numbers are growing; in October, Alnylam, one of the most promising US biotechnology companies, established its European drug development and commercial headquarters in Maidenhead. However, it is the young companies who often struggle to find expert advice, mentorship and funding support locally.

“As the town is undergoing its Renaissance with the town centre redevelopment, future Crossrail link, and other improvement projects, supporting innovative start-up companies and building strong links with established businesses is a critical part of that growth,” Dr Artyomenko said.

The network has already held two showcase events, with early stage companies presenting innovative technologies, such as health management platforms, point-of-care diagnostics, medical devices, and novel pharmaceutical compounds. Their latest event was supported by the Chamber of Commerce and Adobe.

  • “There’s been great feedback on the initiative from MTVA4Life event attendees and other Chamber members. I look forward to further developing the entrepreneurial community in the Maidenhead area and would like to see a local life sciences business accelerator setup to capitalise on the cluster of related companies already here,” – said Olu Odeniyi, President of the Maidenhead Chamber of Commerce.

Two other Chamber members, Hale & Company LLP and Gardner Leader LLP, have also supported the initiative.

“This is a fantastic new event for Maidenhead, especially with all the changes that are currently happening in the town, and the businesses which are being drawn towards this fantastic location. We are also delighted to be a founding sponsor and associated with MTVA4Life who support not just medical businesses but innovative start-up companies. Hale & Company are well placed to advise these businesses on the latest cloud accounting  technologies and provide cutting edge tax advice and support that these fast growing businesses need”, said Daniel Cole, Partner at Hale&Company.

“Maidenhead is an exciting place for growing businesses to be. We are delighted to be an active part of the Maidenhead business community and have grown rapidly ourselves in the last two years. We advise, mentor and support businesses from start-ups to established organisations on a daily basis, offering innovative legal solutions and giving peace of mind on a range of issues” said Derek Rodgers, Managing Partner of Gardner Leader LLP.  Commercial Partner Diane Yarrow added, “Our experience working with entrepreneurs and working in the healthcare sector means that supporting MTVA4Life is a perfect fit for our team.”
